FAQs & Tips
Do you have to use ground beef?
You do not! Feel free to substitute your preferred ground meat like ground turkey.
What kind of pasta should you use?
I like to use elbow pasta aka elbow macaroni for this recipe but technically you can use 8 ounces of any uncooked pasta. I have not tried this using wheat or gluten-free pasta but I imagine it they work just fine.
Can you switch up the canned tomatoes?
Sure. Don’t have crushed tomatoes? Use diced tomatoes instead. Make this recipe work for you!
How do you store leftovers?
Store leftover crockpot American goulash in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
What size slow cooker did you use?
I use a 6-quart slow cooker or Instant Pot for this recipe.
