I authored another cookbook! Cookbook #2:-) The Low-Sodium Slow Cooker Cookbook is now available! I didn’t expect to write another cookbook so soon. When Callisto approached me about writing another cookbook soon after the release of The Easy & Healthy Slow Cooker Cookbook, my first thought was no way. While it’s a rewarding experience, it’s also very taxing. When I heard it was a low-sodium cookbook, I changed my mind.
We need salt to achieve a normal fluid balance in the body and maintaining normal nerve and muscle functions. But too much salt can be a bad thing. It causes the body to retain too much water. And when that happens, the heart must work harder and blood pressure may increase High Blood Pressure, or hypertension, is one of the primary reasons people switch to a low sodium diet. Heart disease, high blood pressure in particular has plagued my family for years. My Dad and most of his siblings have been on high blood pressure medicine for 20+ years. A few years ago I found myself with high blood pressure. I adopted a low-sodium diet and never looked back. This is why I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share slow cooker specific low-sodium recipes with a larger audience. I want to show that low-sodium cooking can still taste good! And hopefully I’ll help at least one family member.
What Kind of Recipes?

What Else Can You Expect?
More than recipes
In addition to over 100 low-sodium flavorful recipes, I also include a 7-day sample meal plan and tips for eating out and maintaining a low-sodium diet. There’s also a guide on how to create your own seasonings.
It’s important for me to keep prep to a minimum with every recipe. You won’t find a recipe with a prep over 15 minutes. And that’s even stretching it; no pre-browning or pan-searing is required.
From low-sodium stew and soups, vegetarian and vegan recipes, roasts, casseroles, I think you’ll find there is something for everyone here. Overall, I think you’ll find that you’re pleasantly surprised with the amount of flavor the dishes have.
I’m really proud of this cookbook and I really do think you’ll enjoy the recipes. If you don’t necessarily follow a low-sodium diet, I bet you know someone who does. Or should. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S. and also the leading cause of death worldwide. You can find more information from the American Heart Association.
