This slow cooker beef shawarma brings the bold flavors of the Middle East right to your kitchen…all with minimal effort. Slices of sirloin slow cook with a blend of spices like allspice, cardamom, and cinnamon. Using the crockpot allows you to enjoy restaurant-quality shawarma at home without a rotissierie. Instructions to make this easy beef shawarma in the Instant Pot are also included.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef sirloin, sliced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 tablespoons shawarma seasoning (see below for homemade blend)

Shawarma Seasoning

  • 2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon za'atar (optional)
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium beef broth (for Instant Pot)

Instructions

Slow Cooker

  1. Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker. Stir to mix well.
  2. Cook on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours or LOW 4 to 6.

Instant Pot

  1. Add all the ingredients to the Instant Pot. Be sure to add 1/2 cup of beef broth. Stir to mix well.
  2. Close the lid and seal the valve. Set to manual high pressure for 9 minutes. When cooking time is complete, let the pressure release naturally.

Notes

If you don’t have 1/2 cup of beef broth for the Instant Pot, use water.
