Shrimp & grits are a classic comfort food. Making this southern dish in your slow cooker produces creamy grits with minimal effort. 

Slow Cooker Shrimp & Grits

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb shrimp
  • 1 1/2 cups grits
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp butter (or ghee)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Spray slow cooker generously with cooking spray. Add all ingredients EXCEPT the shrimp to the slow cooker. Stir to mix well.
  2. Cook HIGH 2-4 or LOW 4-6.
  3. Stir, to mix well and check consistency. Add shrimp and cook an additional 10-20 minutes or until shrimp are pink.

Notes

If you have the time to do so, I suggest stirring the grits halfway through cooking.
