This easy sweet & spicy coleslaw is the perfect side dish for your next BBQ,  picnic, or family dinner. Using simple ingredients, you can tailor this mayonnaise-free slaw recipe to your liking. This vinegar based slaw is healthy and versatile with the perfect balance of sweet  & spicy.

Ingredients

  • 14-ounce bag pre-packaged coleslaw
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 2 limes (approximately 1/4 cup)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 3 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce or 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon oil of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Add pre-packaged coleslaw to a large bowl. Add the fresh cilantro and cumin.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the oil, lime juice, maple syrup or honey, vinegar, and hot sauce (or red pepper flakes) until well blended. Pour the mixture on top of the coleslaw. Toss until well blended.
  3. Refrigerate minimum 30 minutes. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
