Air fryer breakfast potatoes are a quick and healthy addition to your breakfast menu. Make these whole30 potatoes in under 30 minutes.
What is an Air Fryer?
An air fryer is an appliance that circulates hot air around food at high-speed, cooking the food and producing a crispy ‘fried’ layer. Air fryers come in various sizes. I have 2 air fryers. Two different brands, two different capacities. One is a 5-quart, the other is a 5.8-quart. What size air fryer you should get depends on your needs. I’m a household of two so most days I usually cook 2 pounds of food or under which can go in my 5-quart without having to do more than 1 batch.
Soak Your Potatoes First
Soaking your cut up potatoes in cold water removes excess starch. This helps the potatoes from sticking together and to get nice & crispy. Try to soak your potatoes for at least 30 minutes before you air fry them. If you don’t remember to pre-soak them at all, don’t worry it won’t ruin the dish.
Oil or Cooking Spray?
I tried both ways and personally I prefer using oil. You don’t need much. For 2 pounds of potatoes, I used approximately 1 tsp of extra-virgin olive oil. Yes, that’s it. I find that anything more than that will make my potatoes too soggy. You can use the oil of your choice. I prefer extra-virgin olive oil. Of course you can use more than 1 tsp. I prefer to use oil rather than cooking spray because I find that the potatoes air fry crisper when using oil. However you can absolutely spray your potatoes with cooking spray and they will still fry in the air fryer.
How long to fry for? Depends.
Every air fryer is different. As I previously mentioned, I have 2 air fryers. Two different brands, two different capacities. Using the same recipe, I got slightly different results. This has happened to me cooking other food in my air fryer as well so I’ve come to the conclusion that like the slow cooker, no two air fryers are the same. The temperature and time that works for me might not work exactly for you. I like to start mine by cooking them for 10 minutes before I open to toss them. I found that a temperature higher than 370 cooked the potatoes too fast and caused them to prematurely burn. One thing to take into consideration when cooking breakfast potatoes in your air fryer is how big your air fryer is and how many potatoes you’re cooking. I used my 5.8-quart air fryer so I was able to cook 2 full pounds of potatoes at once. You might have to cook your potatoes in batches if you have a smaller air fryer.
Feel free to use your own seasoning for the breakfast potatoes. I used a light seasoning of salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper.

I saw this on your Instagram page. This was the first recipe I made in my new air fryer this morning. They came out great. I added a little more salt but otherwise followed the recipe to a tee. I’m going to try your wings recipe next.
