How To Make Slow Cooker Spicy Turkey Slaw
- Spray the slow cooker with cooking spray. Add the coleslaw.
- Heat oil large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey. Cook the turkey, crumbling the meat as it cooks, until it is no longer pink. Drain grease and add the meat to the slow cooker.
- Add all ingredients to the slow cooker. Stir to mix well.
- Cook HIGH 2-3 hours or LOW 4-6. Stir & serve.
- Turn on the pressure cooker and select sauté. Once hot, add the oil, ground turkey, onion, and bell pepper. Cook 5-7 minutes, crumbling the meat as it cooks. Add the garlic and cook an additional minute. Turn off the pressure cooker and drain the grease if you need to.
- Add the broth and hot sauce and deglaze the bottom of the pressure cooker by scraping all the bits off with a wooden spoon. Add coleslaw on top. Do not stir.
- Close lid and seal valve. Set manual high pressure to 0 minutes. If you do not have 0 (as in zero) as an option, set to 1 minutes. When cooking time is complete, quick release the pressure.
- Stir & serve.

What Is Spicy Slaw?
Spicy slaw is coleslaw cooked with meat. It is similar to the popular unstuffed eggroll and crack slaw recipes that you’ll find on the web. What I like about Trina’s version is that she keeps it simple. I changed a few of the ingredients but still kept the base of the recipe the same. The main change is that my version is made in the crockpot of course.

What Kind Of Meat To Use
The original recipe calls for ground turkey so that is what I used. Technically you can use your preferred ground meat whether it be ground turkey, pork, beef, or chicken. I like to brown my ground meat before adding it to the slow cooker so I can drain the grease. This is an optional step. If you’re using a ground meat that is lean enough, you don’t have to worry about draining any fat. Keep in mind that the coleslaw will cook down significantly. Kind of like spinach. The slow cooker or Instant Pot will be full when you start cooking but it will reduce by as much as half by the time it’s done.

FAQs & Tips
- For the Instant Pot, 0 (zero) pressure really is a setting! I know it looks crazy but trust me, it will work. If you’re electric pressure cooker does not have 0 as an option, set the time to 1 minute.
- I used a 6-quart slow cooker or Instant Pot.

I made mine similarly, but cooked the raw ground beef (salt & pepper), garlic, & chopped onion in the crock pot first, then drained the grease off, added the slaw, 1 block cream cheese, aminos, ginger paste, sriacha, stevia, and some teryiaki sauce. This is a great recipe and can be seasoned to taste. I work from home, and having the beef cook on it’s own in the crock pot is a life saver!
Just made this in the instant pot . Amazing ! Such an easy weeknight meal.
