FAQs & Tips
What type of sausage should you use?
This recipe calls for smoked sausage or kielbasa.
Do you need to brown the sausage beforehand?
Nope! Some people will say that it locks in the flavor but I don’t know if that is true or not. I seared my sausage before adding it to the slow cooker so the pictures would look pretty. It tastes just fine if you skip this step.
What type of potatoes should you use?
Technically, you can use your preferred type of potato. What you see in the picture is baby potatoes. In general waxy potatoes hold up better in the slow cooker but you can also use russet potatoes (peeled or unpeeled).
How do you store leftovers?
Store leftover crockpot cabbage, sausage, and potatoes in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
What size slow cooker should you use?
I used a 6-quart slow cooker or Instant Pot.

How many servings is this?
6 servings. Enjoy!
Hubby was hesitant about this dish bcuz of the cabbage, but he really liked it! This recipe is so easy, it’s a set it & forget it bcuz the crockpot does all the work. I forgot to purchase potatoes so I made basmati rice & added to my dinner plate before serving tue cabbage. This is on the regular dinner rotation.
This one is in repeat- love it!
