Homemade Pizza Seasoning
In the recipe box you’ll find my homemade pizza seasoning spice blend. If you don’t have a store-bought seasoning to use and don’t want to make your own, another option is to use Italian seasoning. Since my pizza seasoning includes garlic salt, I don’t include salt in the recipe. If you opt to use a store-bought pizza seasoning & it doesn’t include some sort of salt, be sure to add some.

What Type Of Chicken To Use
I prefer to use boneless, skinless chicken breasts with this pizza chicken recipe but you can use boneless, skinless chicken thighs as well. Most of you will probably use chicken breasts like I did. If you do use white meat, when it’s done cooking turn the slow cooker off. If you let let it sit on the warm setting, the chicken will continue to cook and dry out.

What Pizza Toppings To Use
What pizza toppings you use for this slow cooker or Instant Pot pizza chicken will depend on your own preferences. While I kept things simple and only added pepperoni & cooked sausage, what I love about this recipe is that you can jazz this low-carb pizza chicken up with your favorite pizza toppings. If you use a meat like sausage or bacon, make sure it’s cooked before adding it to the dish. Easily make this a ‘vegetarian’ pizza chicken by using all vegetable toppings like bell peppers, onions, and olives.

FAQs & Tips
- Since this recipe uses chicken breasts, I do not recommend letting it sit on the WARM setting for too long after cook time has completed.
- I like to have extra shredded mozzarella cheese around to not only use as garnish but to top the leftover chicken when reheating.
- I use a 6-quart slow cooker / Instant Pot to make this recipe.

Chicken came out a little dry. All of the flavors were great, I am wondering if I just had it in the slow cooker for too long (7 hours on low). I wonder if placing the chicken in a brine overnight next time would prevent the chicken from being dry. Overall, still happy with all of your recipes!
I am very much wanting to make this reciepe .. how much sausage did you use?
Randy
6-8 ounces of sausage!
I made this in the Instant Pot and it was really delicious! For the “extra’s” I added onion, red pepper, pepperoni, browned Italian sausage and cauliflower florets! Really really tasty. It’s a keeper for sure, and SO so easy to throw together. Thanks for a great healthy recipe.
If you use sausage does it need to be browned first?
Yes, you should brown it first. Enjoy!

This was so yummy! I didn’t have diced tomatoes so I used tomato sauce instead. It was so easy and delicious! I can’t wait to have this again. Perfect thing to cook when you have a busy day. No chopping or crazy recipe prep.
