An entire whole30 compliant breakfast cooks together at once in this easy slow cooker recipe. Wake up to a healthy whole30 breakfast to start your day!
Back in November 2016 I saw a slow cooker English fry up breakfast. It looked similar to this post but it included traditional English fry up ingredients. Fast forward 2 years and a Mom in the UK re-made it, it’s gone viral so I’m seeing this concept ALL OVER social media. I’ve had a proper English fry up and it is very good. But it’s also very filling & heavy – eggs, toast, baked beans, black pudding (google it), mushrooms, tomatoes…way too much food for me first thing in the morning. Feeling inspired though, I decided to make a healthy, whole30 compliant version.
Make you eggs however you like using salt, pepper, milk, etc. Adding the eggs at the beginning with the rest of the ingredients means they will be cooked well done. I like my eggs this way; all I have to do is just scramble them with a fork. If you like your eggs any other way, add your eggs the last 15-30 minutes of cook time or omit them all together and cook them separately in a pan. By the way, you don’t have to scramble your eggs. Crack them in there whole if you like a runny yolk.

Slow Cooker Whole30 Breakfast (Paleo)
- 2–3 eggs
- 4 ounces mushrooms & cherry tomatoes, sliced (or other vegetables)
- 1/4 cup potatoes or sweet potatoes, sliced
- 2 sausages, sliced
- 1/4 tsp ghee
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Spray mugs & foil with cooking spray.
- Season food with salt & pepper or your favorite seasonings.
- Add ingredients to individual coffee mugs and foil packets as shown above. Add ghee on top of potatoes.
- Cook LOW 3-4 hours (with eggs), LOW 6-8 hours (without eggs)
Cooking the food in individual coffee mugs or foil keeps the ingredients from cooking together in the slow cooker. I know that be common sense for most of you but believe me, I have to say it. You can use all mugs, all foil, or a combination like I did.
I used eggs, sausage, potatoes, mushrooms and tomatoes. I did not use bacon. I’ve seen people use bacon and have mixed results. If you do use bacon, then expect a certain amount of grease along with it. Same goes with raw sausage. Some people wrap their sausage in bacon and line it up against the edge of the slow cooker but again, the results have been mixed. If you try this, let me know in the comments how it turns out!
You don’t have to combine the mushrooms and tomatoes like I did, you can put them in separate mugs if you have room for it. Mushrooms and tomatoes cook down so while the coffee mug might be full when you start, don’t worry, it will not overflow. And yes, you can swap them out for your favorite vegetables.
To make this paleo, use sweet potatoes in place of the potatoes. Make this vegetarian by omitting the sausage.
Please make sure you use a coffee mugs or ramekins that are oven safe.
I have not made this in the Instant Pot so I do not know how it will work. You will need a large 6-quart slow cooker for this recipe.
