FAQs & Tips
What is chicken soup?
Classic chicken soup consists of chicken, broth, vegetables, salt, pepper, and herbs. Most chicken soups are served with some sort of carbohydrate like pasta, rice, or dumplings. This version does not use any noodles. It’s noodle-free, grain-free, low-carb, paleo, and Whole30 compatible. If you’re looking for a chicken noodle soup recipe see HERE.
What cut of chicken should you use?
I like to use boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs for this chicken soup recipe but technically, any cut of chicken will work.
Do you have to sear the chicken in the skillet first?
Nope! If you don’t have time, skip this step. I do this because I find that it helps the chicken stay seasoned.
How do you store leftovers?
Store leftover slow cooker chicken soup in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
What size slow cooker did you use?
I use a 3.5-quart slow cooker for this recipe. Feeding a larger crowd? Double the recipe and use a larger slow cooker.
