What Are Pork Chops?

Pork chops are a versatile cut of pork from the loin of the pig. The loin is a muscle that runs from the shoulder to the rear of the pig. All pork chops are from this area but they can come in different cuts like loin rib chops, shoulder shops, and sirloin chops. You can use your preferred cut for this air fryer pork chop recipe.

What Is An Air Fryer?

What is an air fryer exactly? The name air fryer is a little bit confusing, because when you cook food in your air fryer you aren’t actually frying it. An air fryer cooks your food by circulating hot air around the food at a very high-speed, cooking the food and producing a crispy ‘fried’ layer. This is called convection so your air fryer is actually a small countertop convection oven. An air fryer can help you cook your food faster while still getting a nice baked or fried texture on the outside, all with a very small amount of oil. Air fryers come in a variety of different sizes and styles. What you see here in the pics is a 5.8-quart air fryer that fit approximately 2 pounds of pork chops.

Bone-In or Boneless Pork Chops?

You can use your preferred pork chop in this recipe whether it be bone-in or boneless. Boneless pork chops are the same as a bone-in, just with the bone removed and usually the fat trimmed. Because of this, boneless pork chops are usually leaner than other cuts. While some people will say that bone-in pork chops have more flavor, personally I don’t have a preference. For this recipe I used boneless but if you use bone-in, you do not need to adjust the cooking time. You can make this recipe with up to 2 pounds of pork chops.  If you’re using a thick-cut pork chop, you may need to add additional cooking time to the recipe. Rule of thumb, pork needs to be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.

Homemade Seasoning Mix

You know I’m all about homemade seasoning blends. The homemade seasoning for these air fryer pork chops is simple and you probably have most of the ingredients in your pantry: salt, garlic powder, paprika, etc. Of course you use your preferred store-bought seasoning if you want.

I used a 5.8-quart air fryer for this recipe.
