With a combination of apples, oranges, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, vanilla, whole cloves, and fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary, this simmer pot will have your house smelling amazing for days on end. Ingredients For Crockpot Fall Potpourri

  • Apple
  • Orange
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Nutmeg 
  • Vanilla
  • Whole Cloves
  • Fresh Thyme or Rosemary
  • Water

How To Make Crockpot Fall Potpourri

Slow Cooker

  1. Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker. Stir gently to mix.
  2. Cook covered on HIGH for 1 hour then uncover & set to WARM. Or just set to WARM uncovered.  Setting the temperature to HIGH first makes the aroma fill the air faster.

Instant Pot

  1. Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker. Stir gently to mix.
  2. Close lid & seal valve. Cook high pressure for 2 minutes. When cooking time is complete, quick release the pressure.
  3. Set the Instant Pot to the WARM setting and let sit uncovered.

FAQs & Tips

Can you make this ahead of time?

Yup. Make this up to 2 days ahead and store in an airtight container (like a mason jar) until ready to use. 

How long will the simmer pot last for?

This will last for 2 to 3 days as long as the ingredients are fresh. Store in the refrigerator and top it off with extra water and spices as needed.

Do I have to use the exact ingredients listed?

You do not. For example, if you do not have whole cloves, omit them. Or use ground cloves. If you can’t find cinnamon sticks, add ground cinnamon in it’s place. Make this recipe work for you.

How do you make this fall potpourri simmer pot last longer?

There’s a couple of things you can do to make this homemade slow cooker potpourri last longer. One, let the pot cool completely, remove the fruit, and the pot it in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to re-use it again, add fresh ingredients and more water.  

Is this a good gift?

This homemade potpourri makes a great gift! Combine the remaining ingredients in a glass jar, plastic baggie, or something like a burlap bag. Keep in mind that the fresh ingredients will begin to rot after a few days. If you do not think your recipient will use the gift immediately, omit the apple and orange slices.

  1. I made a large batch of this for my Halloween party. Everyone who walked into my apartment commented on the smell. I kept it going for 2 days by replacing the oranges and adding more water. I plan on making this again for Thanksgiving.
